White Ghost Shivers…I’ve certainly had ‘em. In this case however, I’m talking about one of the best shows I ever have seen and the band that delivered the shivers. I’m talking about the White Ghost Shivers from Austin, Texas.
No one does what they do, not even close. No one, Nowhere. Period. They mix early jazz, vaudeville, western swing, and roots honky tonk to a level that no one in the world could deny. Nor replicate. While not being an advocate of super skilled over the top technical musicianship with the rock I so love, I will admit that if there’s room for that sort of skill, it’s in the music they play. And they bring it, without a doubt. But that’s not the whole enchilada. They whoop it up with an element of sex, drugs, and debauchery that is everything we love about rock-n-roll. Taboo and oh so temptatious. Guilt free I might add. And if a person doesn’t dig this band, I’d suggest they start over. Forget everything you think you know and get back to the basics. On stage they’re visually stunning. Their costumes and stage wear is only topped by a tenacious energy that gives you…well, the shivers. White Ghost Shivers!
